Recruitment
Starfyn Recruitment was founded at the end of 2020 by myself James, and my wife Vicky. The world was coming out of lockdown and starting to return to ‘normal’, it was during these lockdowns that we decided to start our own recruitment agency, and Starfyn Recruitment was born. With over 25 years’ experience working in the recruitment and sales sectors; with some of the country’s largest corporations, we felt the time was right to offer our expertise to any business or school with recruitment needs.
Vicky and I met working at a recruitment agency in London and were married in March 2020. We swapped our home in Southwest London for the beautiful countryside of Hampshire. Since being married we have grown our family, we now have a son and daughter – and also a cocker spaniel dog – Winnie.
We are a family owned and run agency offering a personal service for our clients and candidates. We are told that it is this personal service that makes us stand out amongst the large corporations that dominate many PSL’s.
We partner with Schools, Colleges and Alternative Provisions helping them recruit suitable and qualified Special Educational Needs (SEN) staff. By specialising in SEN Recruitment and partnering with our clients, we have been able to create lasting relationships built on trust, honesty and transparency.
Starfyn Education assists Special Needs Schools with their temporary and contract (SEND) recruitment. We use our experience within Education Recruitment to source, train and match suitable candidates to work within the SEN sector and offer students at our partner schools specialised support.
We are a team that understands the needs of the Schools, Colleges and Alternative Provisions we recruit for; we have first hand experience of the unique and rewarding roles we help with. Some of the team have first hand experience of SEN from a family member and some have worked as a SEN TA or SEN Teacher. James begun working with Special Needs Schools, College and Provisions in 2014, he has managed Education Recruitment teams for large agencies in London and Southwest England. Ever since he started, James has believed in creating lasting relationships, many of the schools he first worked with in 2014 are still working with him now! His favourite hobbies are going for long dog walks and reading crime novels. He also loves to travel, and his favourite destination was the Seychelles – where he got engaged.

Vicky has experience working in Education recruitment and is also a qualified Primary Teacher. She has experience teaching in both Mainstream and Special Needs Schools. Vicky combines her knowledge from Recruitment, with her teaching experience to ensure she finds suitable candidates and supports them with their new roles. She has recently completed an MA, and enjoys spending time exploring outdoors with her children.

Hanna has worked within Recruitment since April ‘22 coming from a customer service background. She has an exceptional eye for detail and ensures that all candidates are supported on the Clearance Process working through Starfyn. She enjoys watching crime shows in her spare time, and loves spending time with her Grandad. Hanna is looking forward to exploring Australia in 2024.

Jesse has previously worked as a Nursery Nurse and a Care Worker and therefore has first-hand experience of working with people of various ages. She enjoys spending time with her family and going for long walks with her dog Bella. Jesse holds a Level 3 Diploma in Music Performance and enjoys acting and singing.

Jacob has worked within the recruitment sector since June 22. He is passionate about sourcing excellent candidates and nurturing roles within schools that we support. In his spare time Jacob enjoys listening to music, writing, and spending time with his little brother. He also enjoys collecting vinyl records. When Jacob was in secondary school, he was part of a team that built and raced an electric car around Top Gears racetrack.

Lucy has first-hand experience working as a Special Needs TA. Having completed this role for 5 years she is well equipped to support the needs of students within schools that we are partnered with. She also has a background in sales and is keen to utilise both skillsets within Education Recruitment. Lucy enjoys walking her dog Mars and getting creative in her art studio painting. An interesting fact about Lucy is that she is currently writing a pilot for a sitcom – watch this space!
