Starfyn Education are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated SEND LSA for one of our clients based in Beddington. The school caters for students who have speech, language, and communication difficulties and provide their pupils with a quality education by putting every child at the centre of their learning so they can celebrate their strengths and overcome any barriers they experience.
Our client is looking for a motivated and determined candidate to join their comprehensive team. The successful applicant will work within a team of teachers, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and other support assistants to provide a warm, safe and nurturing environment for their pupils to help them express their ideas, communicate, build friendships and grow their confidence and self-esteem.
The students in this school are between 4 and 11 years of age. The staff aim to reduce the barriers that pupils face with an aim for them to reach their full potential whilst guiding and supporting their learning and enabling them to develop their knowledge and skills both in and out of the schools peaceful and purpose filled learning environment.
 
The Role:
Days Required – Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4pm (Full time)
Pay - £85 - £90 per day (weekly pay)
Employment Type – Agency (Either Temporary to Permanent or Ongoing Contract)
 
The Ideal Candidate will:
To be considered for the role, the desirable candidate will have previous experience of working within a School, College or Provision. However, we will also consider candidates that have some of the following:

  • Child Care Experience – Through personal or professional experience.
  • Special needs experience – Experience through family, friends or professional environments.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine, caring attitude.
  • An undergraduate degree and/or previous experience working with pupils with SEND.
  • Good general education levels in English and Maths
  • Flexibility with required working patterns
  • A willingness to learn and have a genuine enthusiasm to make a difference.

 
Your Main Duties:

  • Offer support for the school’s students before, during and after their lessons.
  • Assisting students with their understanding and participation in tasks.
  • Help promote each student’s love of learning.
  • Actively participate in team meetings.
  • Always follow the regulations pertaining to safeguarding.
  • When required, support individual’s needs, including assisting with a wide range of medical and occasionally, personal care tasks and physical support where needed (Training will be provided in giving medical care and support)
  • Working either on a 1:1 or group basis to support learning.
  • Inspiring and engaging with children with a wide range of additional learning needs.
  • Assisting with the personal care needs of pupils, which may include feeding, changing and manual handling (TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL)

 
As an agency worker you are only paid for the days you have worked. Therefore, you will not be paid during the school holidays. We pay through an Umbrella provider and will uplift your daily rate as to avoid you incurring any costs.
